Sign Painter

Full Time position in 165 Tubeway Drive Carol Stream, 60188

Parvin-Clauss Sign Company, a fast-growing, family-owned business based in Carol Stream, Illinois, is seeking a skilled Sign Industry Spray Painter to join our manufacturing team. We are a custom sign manufacturer producing architectural signage, illuminated channel letters, cabinet signs, and custom fabricated sign components for customers across the country.

This position is responsible for applying high-quality finishes to sign components including aluminum faces, channel letters, cabinets, trim caps, and fabricated assemblies. The ideal candidate has experience working in the sign, architectural metal, or industrial finishing industry and understands the quality and color consistency required for high-visibility signage.

Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation
• Prepare aluminum, steel, acrylic, and fabricated sign components for paint
• Sand, clean, mask, and prime parts to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality
• Inspect fabricated parts for imperfections prior to painting
• Spray Painting
• Apply primers, Matthews Paint System (MAP) coatings, and clear coats using HVLP spray equipment
• Mix paints to precise color formulas and match brand colors as required
• Maintain consistent color, gloss, and coverage across multiple sign components
• Ensure proper curing times and booth conditions for optimal finish results
• Sign Component Finishing
• Paint channel letter returns, raceways, cabinets, and structural components
• Apply multi-stage finishes when required (primer, color coat, clear coat)
• Maintain color consistency across large sign packages and multi-sign projects
• Coordinate with fabrication and assembly teams to maintain production flow
• Quality Control
• Inspect finished parts for defects such as runs, orange peel, or contamination
• Touch up or refinish components when necessary
• Verify paint matches approved samples, PMS colors, or brand standards
• Ensure painted components meet company quality expectations before assembly
• Equipment & Shop Maintenance
• Maintain spray guns, paint booth, mixing equipment, and filtration systems
• Keep paint area clean and organized
• Follow all safety procedures related to coatings, solvents, and PPE
• General Duties
• Work closely with fabrication and production teams to maintain workflow
• Follow company safety policies and OSHA guidelines
• Assist with other production tasks when required

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2–3 years of spray-painting experience, preferably in the sign industry or architectural metal finishing
• Experience using HVLP spray systems
• Experience with Matthews Paint System (MAP) or similar industrial coatings
• Ability to mix paints and match brand colors accurately
• Understanding of surface preparation techniques
• Ability to read work orders and basic shop drawings
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality finishes
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet throughout the shift.

Hours

40 hours per week Monday - Friday 5:30 AM to 2:00PM, Overtime as needed.

$22 to 32 Per Hour
